Adv. Thenjwa Sellem
Advocate Thenjwa Sellem is an admitted Advocate of the High Court in South Africa with chambers situated at 2A Chamberlain Road, Berea, East London in the Eastern Cape Province of the Republic of South Africa. His career mushroomed in year 2000 when he worked as the Human Rights Intern and the Facilitator of Street Law under the Oliver Tambo Chair of Human Rights at the University of Fort Hare. He also held a position of a Law of Contract Tutor for Second Year Level students at the same university. In 2003 he worked as the General Secretary for the World Missionary Association, soliciting funding from South Korea to South Africa (Port Elizabeth), so as to cater for the needs of the indigent communities. He is a well-experienced legal practitioner who worked for government institutions such as the National Prosecuting Authority, the Legal Aid Board of South Africa and the Department of Justice for more than fifteen (15) years at District, Regional and High Courts of South Africa. He is in possession of the B. Juris and LLB (post grad) degrees which he graduated at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa. In addition to his academic qualifications, he holds an NQF Level 8 Certificate in Investigation and Management of Cyber and Electronic Crimes which he obtained from the University of Pretoria. He also worked as a Shop Steward and a Vice-Chairperson of the Provincial Committee for the National Prosecuting Authority, representing in labour matters the Directors, Advocates, Prosecutors and the Admin Officers of the National Prosecuting Authority in the Public Servants Association (PSA) of South Africa in the Eastern Cape Province. He further completed and obtained the Practice Management Training Course which the Law Society of South Africa offers. His areas of specialization include Labour Law, Criminal Law, Law of Contract, Company Law, Insurance Law, Law of Property, Family Law, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Public International Law and Commercial Law. He represented the NPA as a Presenter in the International Anti-Corruption Day which the Eastern Cape Office of the Premier had organized in 2018. He has been interviewed by various radio stations (Keith Ngesi Radio, Izwilethemba Radio Station and LinkFm Radio Station) on legal issues of national and international interest.
